Chatham breakdown and 'Amtrak' delays

Had a 30 minute delay this AM because of a broken down train near Chatham. NO announcements were to be heard in my time standing around at Summit. I learned of the breakdown through the email alert NJT sent out.

We also were delayed at Secacus Junction going up the hill to the NEC. they blamed that one on Amtrak, like they always do.

SPRING VALLEY - Idling trains are about to become a thing of the past following NJ Transit's announcement that it will run its engines only on the coldest of days.

NJ Transit today apologized to a handful of riders who weren't notified that a 9 p.m. New Jersey-bound train from Spring Valley had been cancelled last night and replaced by a shuttle bus, which was running 45 minutes late.
